One year after Wakashio incident.
The master mariner and chief officer of Wakashio have pled guilty to endangering safe navigation and face two years' imprisonment as well as a fine, according to Lloyd's List briefing.
"The captain has tendered his apology for the people of Mauritius" for the incident which about 1000 tonnes of oil were spilled off Pointe d'Esny, on the island's south east coast, causing the country's worst environmental disaster.
